Statement

James Frost is an autistic, Los Angeles based artist who specializes in oil paintings using the classical techniques of the Old Masters.  He enjoys the fat-over-lean technique, the smooth consistency and luminous qualities of oil paint, and the slow, methodical practice of layering oil paint to create something special.  His work has been described as literal and genuine, with much to interpret from his solitary subjects in their unique environments.  As an emerging artist, James has shown talent for portraiture, allegory, and abstract, each with high quality technique and masterful storytelling through visual art.

James is an autistic artist based in Los Angeles. As an emerging artist in 2023, his work has been shown in galleries all over Southern California. His rich, colorful style and masterful oil painting technique create unique stories in portraiture, allegory, and abstract.
